History:Początek strony

THE RAILWAY STATION IN KATOWICE is the most important railway station in the Upper Silesian Industrial Region, situated in the strict centre of Katowice.   Constructed in 1975, the station building is regarded as the best example of brutalist architecture in Poland. In the building, the architects used impressive forms of large concrete “glasses” which supported the ceiling of the upper station concourse.  In July 2009, PKP S.A. concluded an agreement with a private businessman regarding the construction of an integrated transport and business centre in Katowice. Renovation works started in 2010. According to the agreement, the new railway station with underground bus station was constructed. Also road infrastructure was rebuilt and the public space around the station was organised. As part of the investment, there was an opening the Galeria Katowicka shopping and entertainment centre together with an underground car park.
